The rubber arm series is a 6 week shoulder strength and mobility program to train your shoulder to build posterior cuff strength, increase rotator cuff mobility (health drivers) and increase throwing power.

Why Do Shoulders Have Problems and Pain?

Shoulder pain and injuries come from 2 main areas , posterior cuff weakness, and internal rotation immobility (lack of strength and range of motion on the back side of your shoulder).

In this comprehensive course, you will strengthen your posterior cuff to an elite level. The muscles surrounding the rotator cuff are unique and require special training considerations. Especially for overhead athletes.

rotator_cuff1327490008583

The posterior cuff is the back side of the shoulder. You can see from the photo, there is less muscle mass on the back side (Posterior) of the shoulder compared to the front side of the shoulder (Anterior side).

The posterior side of your shoulder requires functional exercises with light resistance. The heavier the required resistance, the more likely bigger shoulder and back muscles bare the load.

Throwing athletes (or softball players, quarterbacks, swimmers, tennis players, etc.) easily strengthen the front side of your shoulder, and neglect the posterior side of the rotator cuff. Leading to muscle atrophy (shrinkage). Which quickly leads to injury.

Above is two shoulders, one with a tear, and one without a tear.

Why Shoulder Mobility Matters

To unlock shoulder health. Your internal rotation mobility is vital. If you continue to gain external range of motion, but you neglect your internal range of motion, you cause an unbalance in your shoulder. Which will quickly lead to slow recovery, shoulder pain and injury.

Here is an example of excellent external range of motion:

0913_SPO_LDN-L-DODGERS-GIANTS-MB

Notice how his arm is fully cocked backward. This movement is the result of years of throwing and pitching and max effort and max velocity.

Throwing itself is not bad for your arm, IF and only IF you maintain internal range of motion. If you complement your shoulder care with internal range of motion flexibility, you will have a loose pain free shoulder. Here is what I mean…

The Sleeper Stretch

sleeper 2 copy

Here is an example of a stretch from the Rubber Arm Series. In this example, I explain the sleeper stretch step by step, with video instruction.

This stretch, along with many others, will increase your shoulder mobility and your internal range of motion. The Rubber Arm Series stretching system kept my shoulder healthy and strong throughout my entire baseball career.

Proper arm care (like this) allowed me to throw the baseball every day. Throwing everyday is crazy to most pitchers, but it was the key to my success and velocity gains. I would get a little stronger each day, leading to long term consistent velocity.

You can have a loose, strong  and healthy shoulder. But  you have to focus your effort. Make sure you focus on gaining mobility as you focus on strength. This way, you recover faster and become a better athlete.

This Course Took Years To Learn

This course took years to develop. From a small desire to throw and feel better during a long pitching career, to discoveries of detailed exercises and maintenance that unlocks real shoulder health.

I have researched and tested each shoulder exercise, movement and stretch to maximize results in the shortest possible time. I am constantly trying to find the maximum output for the smallest amount of work. Even though it took years of testing, I have found the near perfect program.

During this quest for the perfect shoulder building program, I remember asking around to anyone I could about their shoulder workouts, stretches and throwing routines.  That’s when I met a short Japanese man names Hajime Takashima (“Haj” for short). He may be the smartest shoulder expert I have ever met. One time, he came back from a shoulder conference (who knew such a thing existed) smitten with ideas for shoulder strength and health. He put me through some bizarre functional shoulder exercises and mobility moves.  I remember the first time he ran me through these. I was shacking and sweating. He was laughing. He loved to “torture” me. The cool things was, a short time later, my shoulder felt awesome. I benefited greatly and I thanked him.

These type of strange functional moves had a big effect on this course development. But more on “Haj” later…

A Step-by-Step Guide

The Rubber Arm series is designed to walk your though each day with an exact exercise routine and how you will accomplish it. There is no thinking, it’s all right there, step – by – step. The amount of reps and sets are all in order and explained clearly for each day.  Also included are pictures of the movements plus bonus videos for added clarity.

Here Is What You Get…

  • A Detailed Description Of Each Exercise
  • What Your Focus Should Be
  • How It Should Feel
  • Key Points
  • Timing
  • Repetitions
  • Expected Difficulty
  • Video Instructions

Anyone can pick it up, it’s all there, to make your life easy, while showing your shoulder success path –  crystal clear. You will know exactly what to expect and this program is very easy to follow.

Your Arm With Change With Dramatically Fast Results

Within days, you will feel the results in your shoulder. As you build functional muscle and gain flexibility. You will be surprised at how quickly you grow in mobility, strength, and health.

Picture yourself throwing the baseball with max effort. Your arm whipping forward and you finger tips snapping the baseball. The catchers glove cracks. You lift your glove asking for the ball back. You can’t wait to throw again, because you feel amazing. This is what you need. This is how you will feel.

How Your Shoulder Will Change

As your shoulder feels stronger, you will start to increase the volume of repetitions, and you will add a variety of movements to mix up the locations of the functional strength training. This way your entire posterior cuff will be strong. Even the small muscles you do not normally use.

Once those small muscles get stronger, you will move into bigger posterior muscle development and stabilization movements to solidify your shoulder health for the long term future.

Do you see the path? Build the tiny muscles for health. Gain mobility and confidence. Increase large posterior muscle strength. Then dominate shoulder health for life.

You will look back and love the moment you found this program. (Do you love it when you shoulder feels great? Let’s keep it that way.)

Who is Zach?

zach cropped574634

Hi, I am Zach Calhoon. I spent 15+ years as a baseball pitcher. I saw great success and broke records on the division 1 level. With this rotator cuff program, my fastball reached 95 MPH. Now I am sharing this knowledge with you.

How Your Shoulder Will Functionally Benefit

Specifically, I created this course to make your arm into a super strong and mobile joint. Along the way, you will learn about your arm and how it responds to rotator cuff training. In the future you can customize your own program that fits your specific needs at a specific time. A example is in season, or out of season training. Every shoulder is different, but here is some foundational benefits you will take away.

  • You Will Build Functional Shoulder Strength you can feel
  • Learn How To Treat Rotator Cuff Aches
  • Relieve Frozen Shoulder
  • Overcome Slow Recovery
  • Reduce Pain
  • Learn How To Fix a Shoulder Impingement
  • Last Longer On The Pitcher’s Mound
  • Throw Faster With Less Effort
  • Have An Exact Routine
  • Develop Consistent Shoulder Health
  • And Most Importantly, Avoid Surgery! Forever

Its Been A Long Journey

When I was in high school, I was weak and threw about 84 MPH (at max effort). I worked and grew every single day. Along the way, I ran into problems. Especially after long pitching outings. Including deep soreness and slow recovery. Instead of just resting and being scared to use my arm, I started to research and test different programs. I discovered you can train your rotator cuff for faster consistent recovery. I developed this program with you, the pitcher, in mind. This program revolves around posterior cuff strength, mobility and a variety of functional moves.

The Results Are Amazing

Overtime, I developed cumulative functional pitching strength. My junior year of college, I threw 95 MPH off the pitcher’s mound (and I didn’t even know it, until later when my coach told me).

Zach Pitching His Junior Year Of College

This same success led to breaking conference records. Owning the single season saves record. Being a stopper of the year contender. And being a pre season All American.

This Same Exact Shoulder Training Program

Is Available Today…

The Rubber Arm Series is 3 parts. The Beginner Course (Week 1 and 2), The Intermediate Course (Week 3 and 4) and The Advanced Course (Week 5 and 6). When you finish the program, your arm will be a machine.

The Rubber Arm Series Beginner Course

What is The Rubber Arm Series Beginner Course?

This Rubber Arm Series Beginner Course is the first two weeks of the training program. During these first 2 weeks you will establish proper form and technique as you learn to isolate your rotator cuff during functional exercises. You start off with very light weight (5 pounds or less) and focus on increasing volume of reps while isolating your rotator cuff.

As you learn these proper moves, your shoulder will start to “wake up” your rotator cuff (especially the posterior cuff). This will lead to a slight burning sensation in your shoulder. Which means you are training the important small muscles.  This course is great for beginners who are just learning proper rotator cuff care.

Then you will move into the post workout stretching and mobility routine. This is so vital to your success in this program. When you hold these static stretching positions, you will lengthen the muscles you are training. Which will aid in your recovery. And trust me, you are going to need the recovery for the workouts to come. (Note: Do not pass by these stretching and mobility moves! Even if you think you do not need the stretches, you still need to do them. For the sake of your health and recovery.)

Who Is This Course For?

If you are at any level of shoulder activity, you should start at the beginner course. Whether you are a complete beginner with no rotator cuff exercise experience, or if you been trying stuff for a while. You will need to learn the correct movements and technique. Anyone who is wanting more out of their shoulder activity can and should start at this course

How Long is The Beginner Course?

The beginner course section is 14 days, including 2 rest days. Each day starts with a dynamic stretching routine. Then you will be assigned specific exercise moves for that day. Each day is laid out in a calendar format. Included in each day is the amount of resistance, sets and repetitions you will need to accomplish.

What’s the Beginner Course Include?

Rubber Arm Series Beginner Course Reference Booklet

This booklet includes 10+ workouts. Each exercise is clearly explained with pictures and instruction of the movement.  The instructions include how the exercise should feel. Where you should focus. The key points. Reps and the expected difficulty.

As you accomplish these moves, you will lengthen the muscles in and around your shoulder. Which aids in recovery and mobility. You are required to do this moves after every workout and even on rest days.

The Rubber Arm Series Intermediate Course

What is The Rubber Arm Series Intermediate Course?

This Rubber Arm Series Intermediate Course is week 3 and week 4 of this program. Now that you have established some functional strength and mobility, you will be able to move into these intermediate moves with confidence. In these two weeks, you will use a resistance band that is very light. Maintaining the same concepts from before, you will want a band with less than 5 pounds of resistance. As you lengthen the band, the resistance will increase.

Form is just as important. As you progress through these weeks, you will notice a distinct increase in the volume of repetitions.   This will be important for building long term strength and health.

Then you will move into the post workout stretching and mobility routine. This is still very important to your success in this program. There will be a tendency to shorten these moves. Do not do that. Have patience and stick it out.

When you hold these static stretching positions, you will lengthen the muscles you are training. Which will aid in your recovery. With the volume of repetitions coming, you will need full recovery and preparation.

Who Is This Course For?

This course is for anyone who has completed the beginner course in this 3 part series. Many people think they can skip the beginner course and move right into the tough stuff, but listen closely, you need to build a foundation that last. Each rep is important to your long term health. So finish the beginner course first, then move into this course. That way, you will dominate!

How Long Is The Intermediate Course?

The Intermediate section is 14 days, including 2 rest days. Each day starts with a dynamic stretching routine. Then you will be assigned specific exercise moves for that day. You will notice that the volume of reps increases highly for week 4. It will be difficult. But you can do it! Each day is laid out in a calendar format. Included in each day is the amount of resistance, sets and repetitions you will need to accomplish.

The Rubber Arm Series Advanced Course

What is The Rubber Arm Series Advanced Course?

This Rubber Arm Series Advanced Course is week 5 and week 6 of the program. Now that you have established some real functional strength and mobility, you will be challenged with some advanced exercises. You will continue to build your posterior cuff and increase your mobility. But now also you will be challenged to build stability and strength for the muscles around your shoulder as well.

You will still use less than 5 pounds of resistance. But there will be additional volume and tougher moves to accomplish. By now, you will be ready. It will not be easy, but get excited, its going to be great!

Form is just as important. As you progress through these last 2 weeks, you will notice a distinct increase in the volume of repetitions.  Every move and rep is important for building long term strength and health.

Then you will move into the post workout stretching and mobility routine. Keep this going after every workout. You will need these stretches for certain these last few days.

When you hold these static stretching positions, you will lengthen the muscles you are training. Which will aid in your recovery and mobility. Both are huge for the future.

Who Is Advanced This Course For?

This course is for anyone who has completed the intermediate course in this 3 part series. It is difficult to attempt the advanced course without the proper preparation. The beginner and advanced course are the preparation you need to be ready for this course.

Be careful on the advanced moves. If you still do not feel comfortable, you should wait until you feel stronger.
